Road Trip Essentials for Couples
- Portable Charger – To charge all your devices on the go be sure to pack a portable charger with plenty of juice! This one from Anker will charge your phone up to 6x or even your laptop. I store it, plus all my cords and tech in this Thule PowerShuttle.
- Reusable Water Bottle – because you don’t want to litter the beautiful destination you’re visiting with plastic. We use the Hydroflask brand.
- Eye Mask – I can’t stand hotel or campervan blinds that let in a tiny little bit of light… especially when I’m jetlagged. You can’t go past the Slip Eyemask for ultra-comfort.
- Travel Cup – Do you love a morning coffee or tea? Me too. I use this reusable travel mug all the time.
- Packing Cubes – when you’re living out of a vehicle, its essential to have an organized bag so you can find things quickly. Also, if I’m staying in a hotel for just one night, I will leave my bag in the car and take a packing cube filled with everything I need into the hotel. These packing cubes from Eagle Creek are great.
- Travel Towel – Many of the road trips I this guide include stops at beaches, waterfalls, hot springs, or natural swimming holes. This Sea to Summit Travel Towel packs up small and dries super quick.
- Portable Speakers – great for when you have a picnic, or when cooking dinner if you plan on renting a camper. I like this Bose speaker because its wireless and takes up very little space in your bag.
- Sunscreen – Make sure it’s at least 50+ and organic. I use this one from Supergoop.
- Travel Medication – I always travel with Travelan and Imodium. If you get an upset tummy on the road (or on a plane), it pays to be prepared!
- Travel Insurance – I never go anywhere without Travel Insurance! It really helped when I had to change our travel plans due to a volcano eruption in Bali, or the time that my husband cut his hand on a rusty piece of metal on a road trip around Iceland. For the most comprehensive worldwide coverage, I use and recommend World Nomads.
